The task at hand was to stay mellow (or as most of my listeners call it - "smooth"). I wasnt in the mood of "smooth". Instead, the piano starts a little mellow then builds to a frenzy (hence my heavy breathing in the middle of the song). Its a song you can listen to while driving on the highway, working out, or simply to get motivated."Island Sun" was composed with my buddy saxophonist Rod Tate in mind. I pictured myself on the beach sipping a grape slush (I dont function well on alcohol) LOL
